South Azerbaijan national government led by Jafar Pishevari stablished from November 1945 to December 1946. South Azerbaijan’s national government’s capital was the city of Tabriz. In mid-December 1946, the Iranian army, occupied Tabriz, and ended South Azerbaijan’s national government after a full year of its existence. According to Azerbaijani sources, the Iranian military committed terrible crimes against innocent people in South Azerbaijan.
To honor the memory of South Azerbaijan’s national government, Azerbaijan’s Cultural Center organized a seminar in Stockholm.
